Change of real estate value notices will be mailed the second week of September to all affected property owners, according to County Auditor, Jackie McKee. Ohio Law requires Holmes County property values to be updated in 2019 (payable 2020) to reflect the state of the local real estate market. This update is a statistical trending of values based on recent sales of property. Sales data from 2016-2018, reveal residential and agriculture sale prices far exceed the current auditor values.
Every effort has been made to establish a fair and equitable value for properties, but if owners have questions or would like to discuss the updated value, there will be an opportunity to do so. From September 16-19, property owners can inquire regarding updated values from the following options: View parcel information on www.holmescountyauditor.org, email questions to realestatedept@co.holmes.oh.us, call 330-674-1896 or visit with staff at the Auditor’s Office (75 E. Clinton, Suite 107, Millersburg, OH) September 16-19 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.
The auditor’s office has no control over the tax rate, which is established by the voting public. Taxes do not increase or decrease at the same rate as values. The auditor’s office will not receive tax rates until the end of December, so at this time taxes will not be able to be determined.
